A creative space for you
located on 25 pastoral acres, featuring a house, barn, yurts and several outbuildings some of which are workspaces. The Institute for the Musical Arts gives musicians a place where they can create without compromise or distraction. The Big Barn performing and recording complex features over 3,000 square feet of professionally-designed acoustic spaces nestled in the quiet countryside and equipped with a wide variety of recording gear, instruments and amplifiers to inspire you to produce your best work.

IMA’s home in Goshen, Massachusetts is located at the foothills of the Berkshires and up the hill from the Pioneer Valley which is home to the Five Colleges (Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Hampshire, Amherst and the University of Massachusetts). Just a half mile down the road is the D.A.R. State Forest with two lakes in which you can swim and kayak and with ample trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing or just taking a leisurely walk in the woods. IMA has two kayaks, extra skis and a couple pairs of snow shoes which you are welcome to use.

There is something crackling at IMA and it’s not just the fire in the fireplace (there are four in the house) or a meal sizzling in the wok. It’s something more magical, maybe it’s the magnetic ley lines we’ve been told run through the property. Whatever it is, it adds up to a direct connection with the creative both within and without.housing.htmlstudio.htmlequipment.htmlhttp://www.berkshires.org/http://www.fivecolleges.edu/http://www.fivecolleges.edu/http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/massparks/region-west/dar-state-forest-generic.htmlshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2shapeimage_2_link_3shapeimage_2_link_4shapeimage_2_link_5
